3rd Workshop

The 3rd VERTIGO Workshop will be held from Monday 9th through Saturday 14th May 2016. Arrival shall be on Sunday May 8th in Frankfurt am Main (FRA). Meeting point will be at the Mercure Hotel Frankfurt Airport. The workshop will start in the morning of Monday May 9th with a visit to the LUFTHANSA maintenance in Frankfurt. Afterwards a shuttle bus will take the participants to Mainz where a visit to the SCHOTT AG glass research lab is scheduled in the early afternoon. On Monday late afternoon the participants will be transferred by shuttle bus to the Seehotel Maria Laach where the rest of the workshop will take place.

The focus of the 3rd VERTIGO Workshop will be on the impact of volcanic ash on modern life. The scientific programme will be complemented by a field excursion around the Laacher See volcano and by a science outreach day for the Early Stage Researchers. The workshop is open to external PhD and PostDoc students, though their number will be limited. Registration is on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Participants registering for the whole week will have priority.
